Victory School

The Victory School helps local churches in Albania to coach people of all ages to learn a new language.

This language school has had a huge impact in the local community where the participants have come from all economic levels, and from all age groups to learn languages that will help them integrate into Europe. This will help them improve their future prospects and  their personal lives.

By providing a space and infrastructure for learning a foreign language, the local church is seen as providing a vital service to the community, and young people are potentially attracted to joining the church as a result.

To replicate this project your church will need:

  • A community needing to learn other languages
  • A lead volunteer who knows other languages
  • Volunteer teachers of foreign languages
  • An equipped meeting space suitable as a classroom
  • Necessary language learning resources
  • Pastoral support for the lead volunteers and for the participants of the course

Steps to run this project:

  1. Recruit a lead volunteer and team (a minimum of two people).
  2. Undertake language school training.
  3. Secure the use of a meeting space, including suitable tables and chairs;
  4. Obtain literature, apps and weblink to resource the process.
  5. Recruit course participants through relationships and referrals.
  6. Ongoing friendship and pastoral support for course participants.

“This school has opened a window for our future and we must now learn how to use it in our favour.” - A Teenage Learner
